Take time to chill!

My grandson Sean started a new magazine in Houston called, “Chill.” The magazine’s concept is to teach people how to “chill” out, to relax. I think it’s a great idea. Everyone needs to have ways to relax and unwind. The most important thing is to actually take the time to do it. There are so many things in a day that have to be done, that it is often easy to neglect doing something that doesn’t seem like it HAS to be done, but actually for survival, NEEDS to be done. Taking some time for yourself, quiet time to just relax and unwind is truly one of those things that HAS to be done. You have a week-end coming up! Take time to have fun and to “chill.” You deserve it. You are a difference maker.

Have a wonderful day and a wonderful week-end.

Maryln,
To help kids "chill" I think I remember that you said covering the light fixtures with pink cellophane would be helpful. At another workshop this summer other teachers said "No, I should use blue or green." What color does research suggest works best to promote a soothing comfortable class atmosphere?
Also, I tried a blow up donut pillow for helping a little person sit in a chair and it was helpful. I thought I would pass that along.

Hi,
Use soft soothing colors like pink or pale blue for creating a relaxing atmosphere. It works!

I am a child care center director, and most days I don't have a second to myself. One of my favorite ways to unwind at the end of the day is just to savor my drive home with some of my favorite music. Sometimes I will even sit in my driveway when I arrive home and just soak in the quiet or listen to the wind rustling through the trees.

Another release I find is spending time with my six-month-old nephew. Hearing him laugh and babble, and seeing his facial expressions when he makes eye contact with me or other members of my family is a great reminder of why I'm in this field in the first place.

After a busy week to "chill" for me is a quiet moment to relax and make no decisions for that moment! J

Hi Maryln,

I live in Illinois but would love to get my hands on that "Chill" magazine, any way I can do that?

For me, reading is my escape. Reading to my children is even better because they escape right along with me.

Maryln, you are the best!! Your daily thoughts fuel my day. Talk about making a difference...you are the perfect picture of a wonderful difference maker!! Keep spreading the love.

Fondly and with Respect,
Julie

Today my chill time was going to the National Day of the Cowboy parade. My husband is at work and our son with is for the weekend. I love horses and watching all the wonderful horese with their cowboys and cowgirls was very relaxing for me. Most saturdays during the summer is spent at the local pool which is very relaxing and great exercise. Good chill time to!

Dear Maryln,
I find that as I get older I need to take a nap more often. My chill time sometimes includes a nap if I sense the need, especially after a busy week with the children at preschool. And if I am very lucky I get away and go to my cabin in the woods for two days to soak up the silence and enjoy the sounds of nature that surround me.
I just attended a wedding reception and several people there commented that I "look so relaxed". It was good to know that it shows!
Keep up the good work, I find the information very helpful.
