Turn the pages in the book of a child’s life.

Every child’s life is like a book. Every day holds a new page. The pages become the child’s life story. Help fill the pages of children’s books with wonderful memories, great learning, self-confidence, and fun.

Have a great day and a wonderful week-end, and take time to fill your own book up with great memories.

Take time to laugh.

Laughter is a natural stressbuster. Here’s a cute joke to get your day started in a fun way.

Ms. Smith said to her student, “Eric, didn’t you promise to listen to me today?” Eric looked up at Ms. Smith with his huge dark eyes, and very seriously said, “Yes, I did.” Ms. Jones then said, “And didn’t I promise to give you a strong consequence if you didn’t listen to me?” Eric thought about this for a minute, and then very solemnly answered, “Yes, you did, but since I broke my promise, you sure don’t have to keep yours.”

Hope your day is full of smiles and laughter. You are a difference maker.

Children today—are they kinder or meaner?

There was an article in USA Today recently that said parents are, more than ever, concerned about children being meaner in schools. According to the article, some of these families in a growing movement, are even deciding to homeschool their children to keep them safer. I am curious what you think. Do you think that children are different today? Are they meaner? Are they the same? Go to our website at www.atseminars.org and take part in a new survey.

I believe that children are different because childhood is different. Children are growing up in a faster paced world, a world in which they often have no boundaries at home, a time in which addiction continually rises, a time in which media influences are growing stronger and stronger. Children need love spelled “t-i-m-e” to thrive. They need consistency, routine, and structure. They need adult role models who “walk their talk,” who teach them to make positive choices by their own living examples.

For many children, you are the most important role model in their lives. You are a difference maker.

You are a builder.

Helping a child is like building a house into the future for children. Families provide the foundation. Teachers have the important job of providing the FRAMEWORK. The framework includes sturdy walls of knowledge that will be a strong base for success and also including windows of hope into the future.

Have an awesome day.

Summer time changes are opportunities.

Many of you have school years that are coming to an end, or have already ended. Some of you are kicking off summer programs. Some may be taking time off for the summer. All of these are changes. Change can be viewed as either a challenge or an opportunity. The truth is, every day brings change. The sun always rises, but every day there are variances in the way it looks, depending on the cloud structure. Embrace the changes. Let this summer begin as an opportunity to take care of yourself and to make an even bigger difference in the lives you influence.

Have an awesome day. You are a difference maker.
